The organisers of the annual homosexual annual march in Northbridge is seeking public input into the future of the Parade because of views among homosexuals that it is no longer relevant. “Pride is holding a variety of community forums to address the issues raised. We are collecting feedback from a large variety of people, that means you. Please take a few moments to let us know whether you agree or disagree with the below statements,” Pride WA says on its website.

Regional Parade

Posted by gleanings1 on November 27, 2009

A discussion paper into the future of the Pride Parade has been released 16 Nov by Gay in WA. It gives an indication of why there has been a push to bring the Parade to regional areas. The paper says that because of the success of the gay community into changing WA laws the future of the Parade has often been debated. Only half of those who responded to the survey said the Parade should continue.

Civil Unions

Posted by gleanings1 on November 13, 2009

ACT Govt this week has passed laws which allow legally binding civil partnerships between same-sex couples. The ACT govt has previously tried to introduce these laws, but the laws were over turned by the Howard Govt.

The Australian Christian Lobby says it expects the Federal Govt to veto the new laws ans says it would like to see the ACT Govt stop with its social engineering agenda.

Action: The Australian Christian Lobby is calling on people to email Federal Attorney-General Robert McClelland atR.McClelland.MP@aph.gov.au and urge him to take action to disallow the ACT legislation in keeping with the Rudd Government’s election commitment to uphold marriage between a man and a woman, and not to allow schemes which mimic or undermine marriage.

Action: ACL asks people to vote YES on an online poll run by Canberra radio station 2CC which asks the question: Should the Federal Government over turn the ACT’s Same Sex Partnership Laws Again?

As of this morning of the 287 people who had voted, 94% voted YES to the question, indicating a strong backlash against the new ACT laws.

Death Throes?

Posted by gleanings1 on November 13, 2009

A homosexual group has urged homosexuals to respond against a letter in the South Western Times (Nov 12) written by Rev Dick Scallen from the Catholic Community of Bunbury. In it Rev Scallen said that a homosexual parade should not be held in Bunbury.

The organisers of the homosexual Pride parade in Northbridge want to shift the parade to regional centres starting with Bunbury, followed by Albany, Geraldton and Kalgoorlie. In 2003 the organisers also said they wanted to hold it in Bunbury. This time the organisers say that now is the time to do it while the parade still has some reputation and profile as they don’t believe the parade will be around still in another 20 yrs.
