Sex Party

Posted by gleanings1 on November 27, 2009

The Australian Sex Party, backed by the Porn Industry’s Eros Foundation is pushing to have X-rate pornography legalised for sale across Australia. To help them in their campaign they are running a vote on their website with the question: “Should bans on the sale of X-rated (non-violent) films in the Australian states be lifted?”

Action: Saltshakers says that while they don’t normally encourage people to get involved in their votes they seem to be struggling to get voters. As at Nov 26 1867 votes were received with 60% supporting the bans being lifted. Saltshakers asks people to vote No on the poll but warns people that while it is not a porn site, but a political party site, it is the SEX party. To vote:http://www.sexparty.org.au/

Copenhagen

Posted by gleanings1 on November 27, 2009

Saltshakers is urging people to write to their local members of Federal Parliament urging them not to support the Govt’s emission trading legislation and to sign a petition by Senator Barnaby Joyce against the ETS.

Saltshakers says: Whilst we are being criticised by a few people for opposing the current international obsession with ‘Climate Change’ (which, of course, was originally called ‘Global Warming) because they do not see it as a “Christian moral issue”, we see it very much as a matter of truth. We believe a proper Biblical worldview includes matters of the environment as well as issues like abortion and homosexuality.

Action: Saltshakers urges people to sign the Barnaby Joyce petition:http://www.barnabyjoyce.com.au/Issues/Petition/tabid/99/Default.aspx

Parliament of Religions

Posted by gleanings1 on November 13, 2009

The Parliament of the World’s Religions is to be held in Melbourne, Dec 3-9, 2009. Saltshakers said they are concerned at this sort of interfaith event as they tend to create a ‘level playing field’ for all religions. Christians who proclaim the uniqueness and superiority of Jesus Christ are sidelined as being intolerant or unloving. For more from Saltshakers:http://saltshakers.org.au/html/P/578/B/0

Copenhagen Fallout

Posted by gleanings1 on November 13, 2009

Australian Christian organisations are expressing increased concern with the agenda of the United Nations climate change conference to be held in Copenhagen next month. There have been reports that the Copenhagen treaty, which PM Rudd looks set to sign, will put in place a global government with power over individual countries. The Australian Christian Lobby, Saltshakers and CultureWatch have written to their supporters warning them about what appears to be behind the treaty.
